About
At Theatre Peckham, with my colleague Amari Harris after our summer show There Are Dreams in Us for ReWrite 2019.
As author, theatre-maker and practice-researcher, I’ve specialised on live storytelling, directing, and writing for performance. With my varied work, I’m confidently walking the line between academia and creative practice.

Working in theatre is wonderfully and reliably unpredictable. It’s the art form of the present especially when so many different senses are involved as when going to the opera or a musical.
Therefore, I have come up with a tagline to describe my work as ‘reliably unpredictable.’ Commercial advisers would perhaps advise me against using an adjective such as unpredictable. But then again, what better describes the work with people across boundaries? On stages big and small, in the theatre in general? With literature and the stories we tell.
Celebrating Diversity
Creating art works during the pandemic: Working with Powerhouse for women with learning disabilities on incluisve reflections around Covid-19 (Newham, 2020).
I have been working as a writer, director, and facilitator of live storytelling and innovative music theatre projects for many years now. Fortunately, the only constant in this work has been change. My creative journey has led me from writing a musical for my final exams in secondary school in Germany, to studying clowning and singing in Tennessee to working with vulnerable and inclusive groups in South East London.
My projects have been funded by the Arts Council England, Groundwork CultureSeeds and I have worked with charities such as ReWrite, Arc in the Park, and Powerhouse for Women.
Working in London
Looking ahead into a bright future: Assisting British opera director Keith Warner during Sondheim: Before & After (National Opera Studio/Hoxton Hall, 2022.
Since I came to London in 2016, I have worked for the National Opera Studio, Opera Holland Park, and I had the chance to observe directing practice at the Royal Opera House. In 2022, I was awarded my PhD in Theatre and Performance from Goldsmiths, University of London on directing and facilitating inclusive music drama. Alongside my creative practice, I have taught numerous courses on performance praxis and analysis. During the pandemic, I focused on creating live short story events such as radio plays delivered live via ZOOM or in intimate book store settings.
Literature, arts-based research and lecturing
In late 2022, I moved back to the European Continent to work as full-time staff director at the renowned State Theatre in Darmstadt where I oversaw large music theatre productions and delivered family programmes, live story readings, and arts-based outreach work during the seasons 2023 and 2024. Taking all the experience on board, I recommenced my creative freelance work at Bamberg University in autumn 2024. I’m lecturing on applied theatre and literature at the university’s unique department of Literary Studies and Literary Mediation. I’m also continuing my interdisciplinary practice-based research and performance work there. A perfect match!
